Lex Lang is a voice actor with credits across a wide range of feature films, animated series, and video games. Yesterday, he took to his official Facebook page to tease some upcoming projects, in this now-deleted status:

Looking at Lang’s previous roles, the only video game doctors he’s appeared as are Doctor Doom and Dr. Neo Cortex. Both are potential candidates, but the following tweet — or, more accurately, a response to it — seems to hint towards the latter.

You’ll see that Lang is among the Twitter users that liked the tweet, which is far from official confirmation, but is still a pretty huge hint. The voice actor appeared as Cortex in Crash Twinsanity, Crash Tag Team Racing, Crash of the Titans, and Crash: Mind Over Mutant.

The recent wave of speculation surrounding Crash making his return to the PlayStation has been sparked by an in-depth cameo in one of the biggest releases of 2016. Curiously, players who have finished said game — its name omitted for spoiler-phobes — claim that its credits make no reference to Activision.

This would suggest that rights to the character might have moved on, a factor that squashed hopes of a reboot back in 2013. While fans have been burned before, things look very hopeful at the moment, which should make this year’s Sony conference at E3 all the more interesting.

However, the nature of this vague tease from Lex Lang means that we can’t say for sure that a new Crash Bandicoot game is in the works. That said, given that the character is causing so much buzz at the moment, it’s difficult to imagine that no one is making moves to take advantage of his enduring popularity.
