Reacting to its victory at The Game Awards, Dr Disrespect shared the Splatoon 3 cover art with his community while seemingly asking how the game beat Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in the Best Multiplayer Game of 2022 category. Other runners-up in the category beyond Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 were Overwatch 2, MultiVersus, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, but Splatoon 3 ultimately received more votes. Although Splatoon 3 was also nominated for the Best Family Game of 2022, the third-person shooter lost to Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which was the sole award that the Kirby game won.

While he seemed surprised to see Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 lose to Splatoon 3 at The Game Awards, Dr Disrespect is a known critic of Modern Warfare 2 and has uninstalled it from his PC already. Dr Disrespect stated that he would be playing Splatoon 3 next week in a December 10 tweet response to his initially puzzled one about the Nintendo Switch game winning at The Game Awards. Though he failed to confirm a specific day on which he’d be playing Splatoon 3 on YouTube Gaming, Dr Disrespect’s tweet suggests that he will go live with some Splatoon gameplay by Saturday at the latest.

Dr Disrespect is known for streaming and creating YouTube content for games like Call of Duty: Warzone 2, Apex Legends, Fortnite, NBA 2K23, and Halo Infinite, but Splatoon 3 could be a bit outside the two-time champion’s wheelhouse. Given his expertise in the shooter genre, Dr Disrespect may be successful in the TPS aspect of Splatoon 3 but may not take to painting the battlefield in vibrant colors as quickly. Because Dr Disrespect doesn’t normally stream Nintendo games, the Splatoon 3 livestream may draw in more viewers as there are plenty of Nintendo fans that don’t delve into the Call of Duty titles or Apex Legends.

Although some Dr Disrespect fans were speaking negatively about Splatoon 3’s Game Awards victory at first, some members of the community turned around to express anticipation for the upcoming stream. While some Splatoon 3 players showed up to tell Dr Disrespect to bring his duo partner Zlaner and offered tips about the game’s control options, others suggested their own gaming recommendations, like Gundam Evolution, Subnautica, and Overwatch 2.

Splatoon 3 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
